Lubbock Is the 2nd Most Dangerous City in Texas According to the FBI
These statistics are from 2013, but its safe to say that they probably haven't changed much. According to the FBI, Lubbock had the 2nd highest crime rate in Texas, 2nd only to Odessa.
Even with as many big cities as Texas has, some smaller West Texas cities took top spots when it came to violent crime.
In fact, in the top 10 only Houston broke the top 5, and San Antonio broke the top 10. Austin was actually one of the safest cities in Texas overall.
Here are Lubbock's stats:
Violent crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 658
Murder/non-negligent manslaughter: 3
Rape: 38.6
Robbery: 129.7
Aggravated assault: 486.8
Property crime: 4,247.4
Burglary: 975.5
Larceny-theft: 2,961.7
Motor vehicle theft: 310.2
