Lubbock, Texas is on fire with opinions about the halftime show at the big game.

You Don't Have To Watch

I guess a lot of people lost their remote controls. Mine has an on and off button, up and down buttons, and change the channel buttons. This lack of remotes forced people to watch a halftime show that half of them hated. They then ran to the internet to fight with each other over whether it was good, whether they "understood" it, and so on. I saw more fighting on my social media today than the week leading up to the presidential election (that shows me how messed up everyone's priorities are).

Rock Out!

I'll be the first one to say that a rock half-time show is overdue. Heck, make it a "Monsters Of Rock" with Metallica, The Chili's, and a drop-in with somebody like Alice Cooper. That's my idea, then again I have YouTube and the ability to pop over during halftime and just watch some videos from my favorite bands. The truth is, the Superbowl does not owe you or me any type or quality of halftime show at all. Did you catch that? You are not owed any show at all. Spend halftime re-upping on beers or take some other pause and fast forward through it when they go back to the live game.

The Star

I knew nothing about Kendrick Lamar before Sunday. I think I was faintly aware that some rapper was releasing "beef" tracks with Drake, but before this weekend, I couldn't have named him at gunpoint. Rap is just not my thing, therefore I don't keep up with it and I don't watch it, therefore I am unaffected by it and I sure as heck am not going to let it ruin my day.

The Performance

I did watch the video the next day to see what the fuss was about. I really don't have much of an opinion on it other than I like the way they didn't keep changing sets but rather just used that group of guys to do different things. I also thought it was a tasteful use of guests, where some acts tend to overdo it. I also like the more R & B parts. As for a message, or rap skills, or significance, or comparing it to other Superbowls, I have no opinions.

Change The Channel

Next year make plans to turn over to Puppy Bowl, or to do something else. Complaining about a halftime show during a football game is like complaining about which fish they show before the commercial breaks on Survivor. I guess having an opinion about it is okay, but getting mad about it one way or another is the most spoiled, entitled, and stupid thing I've ever seen.
