Mask or No Mask? It’s Up to Each Artist at the Buddy Holly Hall
If you plan on attending a performance at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences in Lubbock, you may be asked to wear a face mask. Or maybe a mask will only be encouraged and not mandated. The decision is up to the artist and those performing.
Officials at the Buddy Holly Hall tell KAMC that they are allowing the final COVID-19 safety protocols to be determined by those who are performing. That means it's entirely possible that you could be asked to wear a mask one week, and then the following week attend a show mask-free.
As a general rule, officials at Buddy Holly Hall ask those who haven't been vaccinated to wear a mask, though that rule isn't being enforced. It's more of a request than rule.
According to KAMC, Holly Fields, director of marketing & sales with the Buddy Holly Hall, wants to appeal to artists and performers all over the world. That's why the venue is allowing the individual artists decide the rules:
Fields said they want all performers to feel welcome by adjusting to the artist’s safety level, which is why they are leaving the final call up to the visiting artist.
“However, there are some tours that would like to have different protocols where the artists are requesting that all patrons wear a mask for the show,” Fields said.
According to KAMC, the upcoming Boz Scaggs performance on September 26th will require masks for all of those who attend, whether they've received the COVID-19 vaccine or not. Mask guidelines will be listed under each show's description at the Buddy Holly Hall's website.
