Midwestern State University announced on Friday, February 14th that it had been invited to join the Texas Tech University System, which would make it the 5th University in the Lubbock-based system.

TTU System Board of Regents Chairman Christopher Huckabee said "We are encouraged by Midwestern State University’s recent announcement to consider becoming a member of our great System and welcome the opportunity to discuss a potential partnership between the Texas Tech University System and MSU Texas."

KAMC News reports that in an official announcement from MSU, President Suzanne Shipley said that the "Board believes now is the right time to consider this invitation and the advantages such membership could potentially provide to better serve the students, faculty and staff at MSU, Texas.
