My 5 Last Meals In Lubbock
I certainly don't believe the world is going to hell in a handbasket, and I think that nuclear winter will be postponed, but it is fun (and a little morbid) to think about what your last meals would be.
I guess I'm a guy of pretty simple tastes. I've chosen up my five "last meals" and it really doesn't look like I'm asking for too much. I also tried (and failed a little) to keep it things you can get right here in the Hub City. So, here we go.
- 1
The Green Chili Cheesburger
WhataburgerYep. I'm a sucker for hamburgers. I'll take a good hamburger over a steak nearly anytime and for my money the most consistently great, totally awesome burger is the Green Chili Double from Whataburger.
- 2
Stuffed Chicken Medallions
Abuelo'sAbuelo's is a gift to Lubbock. There are so many awesome things on the menu that it's hard to pick just one. My favorite is these fried chicken medallions stuff with chorizo. Best of all Abuelo's hooks you up with three different salsas and the papas are amazing.
- 3
The Pick Two (Shrimp & Fish)
RiversmithsI love Riversmiths. I'm in at least once a month. It's deep fried and sanctified. While I'm a HUGE fan of their open faced chili cheese burger, I think they have the formula right for a plate of whitefish or catfish mixed in with some beer battered shrimp. The deep fried zucchini and onion rings knock it right out of the park too.

Blazing Bangkok Peanut Noodles or Pad Thai
Pei WeiI am hooked on these and can't get them enough. First it was Pei Wei's version of Pad Thai (which is different from what you'd get at a real Thai Place) but I'm working my way over to the peanut noodles.

Biscuits And Sausage Gravy
My HouseI'm cheating here. I would have liked to have put five things you can get on the list, but there is no place that makes sausage gravy the exact way I want it, and it's one of my favorite meals. I think most places don't have enough (or any) of the sausage drippings needed to take away from that pasty taste that some gravy has.
