Ollie’s Sneak Peek: Lubbock’s Exciting New Close-Out Department Store

I am thrilled that Ollie's Bargain Outlet (5005 Marsha Sharp Fwy) will be open in Lubbock on August 9th. Because the only thing more fun than shopping for great items is getting those great items at a fantastic price.

Robbie, our Ollie's Store Leader (and also a really nice guy), took me on a preview tour of the Lubbock location. Now I can give you some tantalizing details and a bit of a sneak peek. Let's start with some strategic "know before you go" information.

The first thing I noticed- and you will too- is that this store is enormous. 35,000 square feet, in fact. Unlike some other bargain stores, Ollie's is well laid out and organized, with easy-to-find departments to make shopping a breeze to navigate. There's plenty of signage to direct you to exactly what you're looking for.

You'll also notice that Ollies has many different departments: food, toys, beauty supplies, appliances, cleaning, decor, pet items, child/ baby items, clothing, outdoor, seasonal, automotive, books and so much more. What was surprising to me is that they have a large stock of mattresses, carpets, and rugs, too.

You should also know that the store is filled with high-quality brands and products you already buy. Ollie's gets their stock through a combination of close-outs, excess inventory, package changes, and manufacturer-refurbished goods. Ollie's also acquires inventory through company liquidations.  Basically, Ollie's are experts at finding the best bargains- and they pass those great deals on to us.

I saw some of the prices on items in the store, and while I can't give you any price quotes yet, I can tell you I am absolutely, no doubt, 100% getting my next vacuum cleaner there. My only regret is that I have to be patient and wait for the store to open to take a new Bissell home.
