What To Expect At Lubbock's New Planet Fitness Location

Lubbock’s fitness community is getting another boost. Planet Fitness is expanding once again, this time to South Lubbock. The popular national gym chain, known for its affordable memberships and “Judgment Free Zone®” atmosphere, is opening a brand-new location to serve the growing residential areas in and around 98th Street.

The new Planet Fitness will be located at 3303 98th Street in the former Big Lots next to Kohl's. The ample space (and parking) make it an excellent choice for a popular gym brand. It is slated to open this December, and memberships are already available at a discounted rate.

I was unable to find out if the gym will be 24 hours like the 3249 50th St. location, or if it will have hours like the 5005 Marsha Sharp location, which is open from 4 AM–10 PM.

Gym Culture In Lubbock

This new Planet Fitness joins its other two locations in Lubbock for an affordable and accessible gym experience. Lubbock has other large "chain" gyms like Crunch and Trufit. Lubbock also has locally owned gyms like Premiere Fitness and Zach's Club. Additionally, there are plenty of more exclusive/ smaller gyms as well.

When picking a gym, consider the cost versus what the gym has to offer you. If you love classes, a gym that's pride is thousands of pounds of free weights might not be the best fit, and vice versa.

Any gym should offer you a tour of the facility and an overview of what they offer before you commit, and some will even give you a free trial run for a day or week. Be sure to know exactly what you are committing to before you sign up, and don't hesitate to advocate for yourself.
