OK, I understand the need for rules but there are times when rules need to be bent or broken all together in the name of common sense and maybe even just for common courtesy!

I totally get issuing fines to NFL players for dangerous or illegal hits, especially after they continue to do the same thing week after week. I understand the need for fines for steroids or drug abuse, I understand the need for these guys to be held to a higher standard when it comes to certain things because so many young kids look up to them.

This fine however I do not agree with, check it out, Troy Polamalu was fined $10,000.00 after a trainer gave him a phone to call his wife after being  hit in Sunday's game against Jacksonville.

The all-pro safety for Pittsburgh has had numerous concussions over the years and after being evaluated used a phone to call his wife and let her know he was checked out and that he was ok.

I get that if they break the rules for him other players can say "hey, I was letting my mamma know my in grown toe nail aint hurtn' today" but come one, how about the NFL uses a bit of common sense.

While I'm on the war path about stupid fines, how about issuing a fine for "excessive celebration" in the end zone, show me a fan that cares and I'll show you an ass who needs to stay home and watch ping pong.
