When you think "rum" you probably think about the Caribbean, as that area has a rich (and unfortunately, fraught) history of producing sugar cane and subsequently, rum.

However, any sugar cane-producing area is a potential candidate for rum production. Until last year, Texas was the fourth largest sugar can producer in the U.S. Sadly, the closure of sugar cane mills may see Texas dry up as a sugar cane producer.

Luckily we live in a time when ingredients can be outsourced if required, so we needn't worry about not having any Texas-made rums yet.
