Texas was nearly last when it comes to children's healthcare.
Texas Is Bad For Children
"Nearly dead last" seems to be over-reacting to a new survey. One would think you're either "dead last" or not. I'm going to go on record and saying coming in at 50 out of 51 (Washington, D.C. was included) is "nearly dead last". It's a terrible showing for the Lone Star State, but this is probably not news to you.
Texas Trails In Children's Healthcare
The survey was commissioned by Wallethub who I've yet to find fault with. The metrics they set up for these various surveys are always well thought out, and appear to be weighted properly. The results are indisputable and in this case Texas has a problem and there are no easy answers.
Texas Has Embarrassing Results In Child Healthcare Survey
The new survey is "Best & Worst States For Children's Healthcare". Now while I'm sure no state deserves to bring up the rear, it's rather embarrassing that Texas, and Texans, who love to boast about the state would leave something so important as this behind. One would assume that children would come first around here, but that's not the case.
Wallethub's Read On Texas Is Accurate
The survey was broken up into three categories, "Kid's Health & Access To Health Care", "Kid's Nutrition, Physical Activity, & Obesity", and "Kid's Oral Health". Each of these were made of smaller metrics like, "School Nutrition Standards" and "Percentage Of Uninsured Children". It's very comprehensive.
Tanks Tanks Completely On Children's Healthcare
News just gets worse for Texas, coming in 51 out of 51 in the aforementioned "Percentage Of Uninsured Children". Add that in with incredibly low scores elsewhere and it all adds up to Texas currently being a really poor place for children's healthcare.
