2018 RECORD - 7-6

Most Likely 2019 RECORD - 8-4

2019 Preview:

For all that the Cowpokes weren’t in 2018 they were still a Bowl team and the 3rd best offense in the Big 12 Conference. While they put up 42+ on 7 separate occasions there were sporadic scoring droughts throughout the season as well. The QB play was one the ‘Pokes both suffered and succeeded with in Taylor Cornelius. But his time in Stillwater is done much like OC Mike Yurcich who bailed for another OSU this time Ohio State to be the QB’s coach in Columbus. Giving way for Princeton OC Mike Gleeson to head to Stillwater and bring his high powered offensive playbook to the Big 12.

The QB situation in 2019 should see a bit of competition going into fall camp with both Hawaii transfer Dru Brown and highly touted RS Freshman Spencer Sanders vying for the job. However it shakes out, the Cowboys will have hardly any experience at QB. However the WR group does have some returning talent. Tylan Wallace is back after leading the way with 96 catches and 12 scores. With eight Cowboys catching at least two touchdown passes in 2018 the ball is spread out fairly well. Dillon Stoner ready is poised and ready  to step up as an excellent No. 2 option. The RB stable is full of weapons and they are set to have another big year. RB Chuba Hubbard will lead the charge but don’t be surprised if LD Brown or JUCO transfer Dezmon Jackson factor in as well.

The defense will be a work in progress in 2019 with a few new faces, especially up front on the DL and at LB. The ‘Pokes were the 9th ranked defense in the Big 12 in 2018, that’s 9 out of 10, so it can’t get much worse for them in 2019. The secondary isn’t in as and of position as the other 2 groups but only getting 5 INTs as a team in 2018 will need to be upped in 2019.

The main reason the Pokes will succeed this year has nothing to do with the players it all depends on Gundy keeping the MULLET!
