The South Plains Food Bank’s ‘U Can Share’ Food Drive Continues Through Saturday
The 2016 South Plains Food Bank "U Can Share" food drive is in its finals days; wrapping up Saturday afternoon. The food drive has been a major fundraiser for the food bank since 1983.
Through Thursday morning, the food bank had collected 184,000 lbs of food and $33,000. This year's collection goals are 350,000 lbs of food and $150,000.
The main drop-off location for canned and non-perishable food items is the United Supermarkets location at 82nd Street and Frankford Avenue. Collection barrels have also been set up at the other United, Amigo's and Market Street locations in Lubbock.
The South Plains Food Bank serves Lubbock County, plus 19 other counties across the South Plains, with a total population over 500,000 people. Get more info online at SPFB.org
