Tin Foil Hat Club Thinks Coronavirus Is a Plot

I hate to ruin this for you conspiracy theory folks, but this rumor has already been debunked.

I'd love to back away from this, but it keeps cycling in my feed, people who want to believe that Coronavirus was a plot to, uh... whatever. Logic will tell you all of this, but low-key and upfront racism and nationalism continue to make this a thing. One thing, though: SCIENCE.

Scientists can look at a virus and tell the origin. It's part of how they figure out treatments and cures. I can link dozens and dozens of articles for you, but here's one of the first ones that come up. Other than that, I'm not going to waste much more time than this on the people who believe it.

There are plenty of ignorant people out there who want you to hate anyone that is "not us." Maybe they don't feel loved enough, or they don't understand other cultures, but it's pointless to direct your BS towards people halfway around the world. (And, even if it was a plot, it would be a plot on the part of the people, but rather the government or some Dr. Evil type living on a skull island.)

So please, quit passing around this kind of nonsense along. I don't know if there's a lesson intended in a virus and crisis like this, but if there is, it should be that we all need to look out for each other, even if that means staying apart for a bit.
