The 4th of July is Tuesday. But fireworks are on sale now. So why not buy them early and save them for Tuesday? Well, it's illegal to have them in the city for one. Here are the LPD's rules about fireworks that you need to know.

I think most of us understand the basic rules about fireworks. Don't point them at each other or yourself; don't put lit ones in your pants; don't put any fireworks in your pants. In fact, maybe just wear metal pants.

But did you know the laws about buying and transporting fireworks? Laws like, you can't have them in the city limits, ever, for any reason. So if you buy them early and take them home, and you live in the city of Lubbock, you just broke the law. Don't do that. It's illegal.
