Why Don’t Some Texas Roadhouse Locations Have Peanuts?

Have you noticed a lack of crunchy peanut shells under your feet when you stroll through some Texas Roadhouse locations?

Munching on peanuts and casually tossing the shells to the floor has become a thing of the past in many restaurants across the United States. Some blame stricter safety regulations put in place during the pandemic. Still, there may be another reason you no longer find peanuts in their restaurants.

Before we get to that, here's a video of what it's like at the end of a shift to clean up all peanut shells discarded on the floor. It doesn't look fun at all.

According to DailyDot, an increase in peanut allergies could be to blame. Over the past 20 years, the numbers have gone way up. You might be able to blame your friends with peanut allergies for everything. (And I mean, everything. I blame them for people driving slowly in traffic, not getting what I want for my birthday, and countless other things. Peanut allergy people are sucking the life out of life.)

Kidding...

Kinda...

But, it looks like allergies could be one reason it's rare to find a restaurant that still does the whole peanut shells-on-the-ground thing.

A ton of Texas Roadhouse servers commented on the viral video above of peanuts being swept up, and here's what they think about the peanuts in general:

"Bruh the amount of people that would come in and ask us to sweep because they were allergic. Like you came to the WRONG place buddy. It's in the air."

"Ours offer peanuts but the floors are clean because we aren't barbarians."

"Pre-covid Texas Roadhouse was something else."
