I've been on run writing stories about "Is it legal?" and just for fun took a chance on Google's autofill.

Autofill, for those under a rock, fills with the item(s) most searched on Google. That is to say, as silly as my topic here is, real people typed it into the Google search engine over and over.

I don't know if it's because of Rocket The Raccoon from Guardians Of The Galaxy, or if it's just the charm of those tiny hands, but apparently, a lot of people in Texas want to have a raccoon as a pet.

So what's the problem with owning a trash panda, triangle-faced monkey, crabby-puppy, bandit-faced potential ball of love? Well, in short, they are wild animals and they do not care to be in your care.

Raccoons are classified are wildlife and owning wildlife is illegal in Texas. There might be some ways you could wiggle around the law, but they are not recommended as pets.  Yes, if this seems a little unclear, let's put it this way, if you went out and trapped a raccoon to keep as a pet, you are breaking the law, but it's possible in some other circumstances that you could get a permit from the U.S. Department Of Fish And Game.

I know what you're thinking, but what about a possum? Well, while specifically not spelled out, possums do seem to fall under the same rules. I've seen videos of some people who love to own possums, and while they have that so-ugly-it's-cute vibe, it's still best to leave them to their own devices.

Stick with the dogs and cats, there's plenty ready to be loved.
