We were very pumped when the guys from Apocalyptica offered to play at the radio station. Instead, we approached them with the idea of taking it out to an even more visually-pleasing area: Lubbock's famous Buddy Holly statue.

Suffice to say, a lot went into getting this approved.

I then talked to the mayor, who referred me to the Assistant City Manager, who then hooked me up with the Buddy Holly Center.

We then added a small PA to the mix, which required all of the surrounding businesses to sign off on the performance. I think this is important to mention: all the businesses in the area were happy to have this event.

So here we are now. Weather permitting, Apocalyptica will perform a couple of songs in front of the Buddy Holly Statue at 3 p.m. this Saturday (May 23). It's absolutely free and everyone is welcome.

In case you don't know where the Buddy Holly statue is located, it's at 1824 Crickets Ave.

You truly must see these guys live to understand the power of this three cello lineup.  It will be short (probably just ten minutes), but it will be incredibly epic. The band is from Finland, and they are honored to play in front of our hometown hero.

If you like what you see, Apocalyptica will also be playing live at Jake's Saturday night.

Here's a video of their latest single "Cold Blood"
