Lubbock went full on wild west Thursday and it's amazing no one was killed.

The situation is pretty simple: An assault led to a fistfight. The man who reportedly started the assault went and got a gun and emptied somewhere between nine and fourteen shots at the victims and/or their house. The homeowner's son then went inside the house and came back out with an AR-15 and started popping off shots, some of which went right into a nearby children's playground. Now, the homeowner is complaining that the police took his weapon and he feels less safe.

Let's get this straight. If someone comes into your home, you have a right to fire a bazooka up their butt as far as I'm concerned. When you're being shot at, running back into the house and coming back out with your own weapon isn't making anyone safer. We're grown-ups. We don't settle things with gunfights in the streets. You have a right to DEFEND yourself, not MOUNT A COUNTER-ASSAULT.

There's something hinky about this story to begin with, and I'm sure the real story will get out eventually. In the meantime, taking the victims firearm was 100 percent the right thing for the police to do because he hasn't figured out how to use it responsibly. Good job by the Lubbock police. Now, get back out their and cuff more of these jerks before they hurt an innocent bystander.
