It's like we woke up in the 1950s all over again.

Former Lubbock City Councilman Todd Klein took to Facebook to express his displeasure with the Super Bowl halftime show, calling it "whorish."

Klein went on to say the performance was "very sad...and disgusting that kiddos are seeing this." So let's break this down.

The guy is welcome to his opinion, but as a public official and as someone who may seek public office again, it's important that we know that he regards women in this way. Yes, this is about how he regards women.

I'm assuming he has a problem with J-Lo using a pole as part of her routine because shaking that booty has been going on for a good decade or more. (Then again, I don't know what kind of Amish community Klein grew up in, so maybe I'm wrong.)

These days, a pole is a dance accessory, no different than a ribbon on a stick or a giant ball. If you want to read more into it than that, then maybe you're the problem. Women are now taking these dance classes to lose weight, get strong, and improve coordination and core strength. Of the women I know, the classes were not taken to please men but to develop confidence in themselves. In short, these women are not responsible for your hang-ups.

Now, let's address the "kiddos."

First off, if you have a problem with kids seeing the performance, turn your TV off. Just hit the red button and you're done. They also have convenient buttons to change the channel over to the Puppy Bowl. Quit being a moron and pretending that something airing at 7 night is mandatory viewing for kids. Or you could be a good parent and talk about how strong a woman has to be to perform these types of routines.

It's okay if you think the program was inappropriate or just sucked, but the use of the word "whorish" is unacceptable, and quite frankly, "dickish."
