Watch out, guys...

An invasive species of worm is taking over Texas! And what's worse, is that these bad boys are incredibly hard to kill...

The hammerhead flatworm is toxic and it's taking Texas by storm. Not only can the nasty little worms carry parasites, but they can also grow over a foot long...AND...if you cut them in half, they just regenerate, like something out of a science fiction movie.

The species isn't new to Texas. They've been around for quite some time. The recent heavy rain from Hurricane Beryl seems to have brought up quite a few of them. These funky worms thrive in tropical, wet climates. So...they are enjoying all of this hurricane business.

Luckily, hammerhead worms are not the kind of toxic that can take a human out. It's also highly unlikely they will harm your pets, either. Mainly, they wreak havoc on the ecosystem.  It's recommended to kill them immediately if you happen upon one. The parasites they carry could be bad news for several different useful organisms in our ecosystem that we just can't afford to lose.

So, kill those nasty worms, y'all! Do it for Texas! Be brave and take on the foot-long worms like a man! You can do it! I believe in you. I believe in you SO much, I'd like to invite you to my house to take care of my worms too! Who better than you?
