Kansas City Royals Take Down Mets In Extras For Championship
Down by two runs in the ninth inning, the Royals dug deep and put up a tying two runs on Mets' ace Matt Harvey, who was sent back in to close the game out completely. Kansas City found a way to win in the 12th and took the crown as this year's MLB champion.
In fact, Kansas City put on a scoring (and pitching) clinic in the 12th, as the Royals put up five runs to eventually win the game by a 7-2 final.
The series went 4-1, and after Cueto pitched his fantastic complete game in game two, many people already looked at the series as decided in favor of KC.
The Mets fought during the three games at Citi Field, yet couldn't muster up enough to defeat a team who had a World Series championship stripped away from them last year in game seven against the Giants.
Congrats to the Royals, and here's to the offseason and spring training!
