Local Lubbock Restaurant Calling It Quits, 3 Weeks After Other Location Quietly Closed
A local Lubbock restaurant specializing in Chicago-style pizza, wings, and burgers will close tomorrow (November 1, 2024) after nine years of operation.
Woody's Pizza, Grill & Pub (3135 34th St) announced the closure on its Facebook page, citing rising operating costs and "several personal bad decisions" as the reasons they've called it quits.
The rising food prices, utilities, cost of doing business has gone up 300 to 400% of what it was 4 years ago. We have reached the end of Woodys. I personally made several bad decisions by trying to open the Slide location. We are not able to come back from the financial strain.
This is three weeks after the sister concept, Woody's Burger Barn (10007 Slide Rd), quietly closed, according to comments left on the same post.

The owner thanked Lubbock for 9 years of support, and also offered an opportunity to anyone who might be willing to brave the restaurant business:
If you are looking to have your own place message me. The landlords are willing to let someone take over the lease. So this will be a turn key restaurant. Text me if you are interested in opening your own spot.
It could represent a great opportunity for a food truck to step up to brick-and-mortar, a place to expand, or a new concept entirely.

Sadly, a business in the same shopping center as Woody's also closed recently and abruptly. Frost Brewhouse closed in early October.
Luckily award-winning Vizo's is still there, offering unique cuisine to 34th Street.
We always hate to see local businesses throw in the towel, but we do wish the owners and employees the best of luck in their new endeavors.
