Lubbock Grand Jury Indicts Man After He Impregnates Underage Girl
A Lubbock man has been indicted for sexually assaulting and impregnating a young girl.
According to a report, the man in question, 33-year-old John Gabriel Trevino (pictured above), said he was “okay” with the girl’s age when he convinced her to have sexual intercourse.
Police first got involved in April 2018, after a local high school where the girl attended informed her father that she was pregnant. When police talked to the girl, she divulged the details of what happened and that “an old guy” was responsible.
KAMC News reports that court records indicate the girl, who is high school age, had spent time with Trevino for several months before becoming pregnant, but the specific nature of their relationship is unclear. It's unknown whether or not Trevino manipulated or threatened the young girl into having sex with him.
In May, after an investigation, Trevino was arrested and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond. He remains there today. He was indicted Tuesday for sexual assault of a child and likely faces years behind bars.
