There wasn't too much to get hot and bothered over in Saturday's election. In fact, most people chose to sit it out.

Fortunately, the road bonds issue passed with 67% of the voters voting for it. This will allow the county to issue close to 100 million in bonds to work on our asphalt.

It was not a huge turnout, with only about 11,000 people stating their preference one way or a another, but it did represent a real, solid issue being placed in front of the voters.

On the other hand, it's a little embarrassing that so many people get worked up by topics that have nearly no effect on their daily lives. Hopefully, we can face more protein issues like this one and fewer carbohydrate ones like where people pee.

Congrats Lubbock, and happy driving on those new roads.
