Lubbock’s Mano Negra Faces Move-Out As Shopping Center Changes ‘Direction’
A local microbrewery in Lubbock is facing a sudden move after stating that the shopping center that houses it has decided that the business is not, "a part of the new vision of the space."
Mano Negro is, "Lubbock's first Latin owned nano brewery," according to their website. They specialize in ales and Sangria on tap, while also exciting non-alcoholic options.
They also frequently host live music and comedy events.
Personally, I like to purchase bottles of their Sangria as a nice, locally produced gift.
Mano Negra, currently located at 2610 Salem Ave. inside the Cactus Alley shopping center took to Facebook for suggestions on a new space, as they only have less than two months to relocate their business.
All of this comes after they've spent five years establishing themselves in their current space.
Many fans suggested they take over the former location of Frost Brewery on 34th, which closed in early October this year. That spot also offers a lot of charm and history.
Other fans suggested a downtown location so Mano Negra could take advantage of events like the First Friday Art Trail. Burkee Hill also closed earlier this year, leaving that beautiful building vacant.
Still others suggested the booming areas of South Lubbock, or in the West End Shopping Center. Most people agreed that a patio should be required in the new space.
Want to help with what will certainly be a costly move? Mano Negra posted some suggestions for those who want to see them thrive in a new space:
