Cryptids

We've covered a number of cryptids that were (allegedly) spotted in Texas including Hogzilla, Bigfoot, and The Bear King Of Marble Falls. Each one of these sightings is unique and lets say, just a little bit scary. It certainly feels like we don't know all there is to know about our planet and that there might be a thing or two hidden in some remote areas. It would certainly be unlikely that something is living amongst us without our knowledge, but it is certainly possible.

Our Star

The cryptid in question for today actually makes it's home in the Ozarks, but of course the stories of it being spotted have drifted down to Texas. No other than famed frontiersman Daniel Boone reported seeing an "Ozark Howler" in the state of Texas in the early 1800's. I suppose we should also say that Daniel Boone was known to spin some tall tales for his amusement though, but he did report a couple of encounters with the creatures.

The Description

The Ozark Howler is frequently depicted as bear-sized with red-eyes, shaggy hair and horns. A few descriptions also go with more of a cougar type animal but still with horns. It's said that it has a cry that sounded like a cross between a wolf and an elk, with some reports saying there's a bit of hyena mixed in. All in all, it certainly sounds like an animal that you wouldn't want to cross paths with.
