I absolutely love the new art that has been installed around Lubbock, and I wish we could find a way to keep it.

Like many things, there are many levels to arty and finding one that fits the ton of a town can't be easy. With the new animal sculptures around town, the Lubbock Arts Alliance has found pieces that are whimsical, fun and non-pretentious, while honoring some of the critters found around the area.

If you haven't seen the pieces, check out my favorite, the yellow armadillo that sits on the corner of Quaker and the Loop. Apparently, these items are on loan until sometime in 2021. At that time, how about we commission giant prairie dogs for all over the city, each painted a different color so they can also be used as landmarks ("turn right at the blue prairie dog").
