When it comes to new Asian restaurants opening in Lubbock, have you gotten...skeptical?

I know I have- we've seen multiple places put up banners and signs, only to be met with big delays, or in the case of the K Pot place arising out of an old Furr's... a demolished building.

Luckily, one long-anticipated Asian restaurant in Lubbock has given us an update and even posted pictures to prove they are more than just a banner and a broken promise.

We first told you about Momotaro in December of 2023, as we were thrilled that something new was coming to the former location of Kings Street Pub. Since I live nearby, I've been watching and waiting for the concept to open.

According to Momotaro's Facebook page, the restaurant will feature all-you-can-eat Hot Pot, Sushi, and Hibachi. Yum!

Now, they've taken to their Facebook Page to post photos of the inside of the building:

The post states that they will be opening "soon" which is of course subjective, but I am hoping the open before the end of 2024.

Opening a restaurant is no easy task, and it very rarely goes off without any snags. The restaurant must go through licensing to sell food and alcohol (if applicable), must pass inspection and must acquire all the appropriate equipment, hire and train employees, etc.

And again, it is exceedingly rare that something doesn't go wrong, or has to be corrected before opening. That's why I try to be as patient and hopeful as possible.

We can't wait for Momotaro- Lubbock desperately wants a KPot option, and it seems to be so close... we can taste it.
