*Careful: This video uses the same language that is used at Red Raider Games

Saturday night, I accidentally said something profane not knowing there was a kid in the room. I still feel bad about it. At the same time that happened, a large part of the crowd at the Texas Tech game was chanting "f--- you, Baker."

Life would be so much easier for me if I just went "rah, rah, go team!" and went along to the prevailing attitudes around here. I'm just not that guy. I have to call out bad behavior.

This type of behavior just adds to Texas Tech's image of having "no class." It's poor sportsmanship and it's completely ineffective. OU (and former Texas Tech) quarterback Baker Mayfield himself called it "fun." So there you go. The chanters had no effect on their target, and we just taught a lot of kids that it's okay to use this language. So much for a "family atmosphere" at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Texas Tech and its fans have been trying to spark a "rivalry" for years. It's just not a thing you can invent. OU sees Texas Tech as just another game. They don't care about our chants or our "blackouts." Our attempts to antagonize the team led to nothing other than to be labeled poor sports. This morning, our coaches are apologizing for the way we lost, while OU is apologizing for how they won.

I've heard calls for Texas Tech Football to step up and be the "bad guy," to get mean and crazy and instill a little fear in our opponents. It works. My first favorite football player ever was the completely unhinged Conrad Dobler, who was known as "football's dirtiest player." The difference between Dobler and Texas Tech is that at the end of the day, Dobler got the job done.

Texas Tech fans need to realize this. If you're acting like jerks and win, you're a badass. If you're acting like jerks and lose, you lose on two levels.

Lastly, there was an incident where an injured OU player pushed a Texas Tech player on the sidelines. Tech fans were quick to call that poor sportsmanship. Yeah, the same ones that were chanting "f--- you Baker." I'll just leave that right there.

Here's the original video of the crowd's chant:
