Teenager’s Tragically Short Life Commemorated by Family in Mourning
An Amarillo family is currently going through a hardship that no parent wants to experience, mourning the loss of their teenage son.
The Mendoza family of Amarillo, Texas recently lost their son, Jaxson Mendoza, on August 25th. Jaxson battled epilepsy for 2 years and 10 months and had many accomplishments that many people could only dream of.
Jaxson was an all-around athlete, playing baseball, basketball, golf and extreme martial arts. He donated some of his personal time to the SHINE program at Bonham Middle School in Amarillo. Along with being an athlete, Jaxson was in the school choir and enjoyed robotics. Like any other teenager, he also enjoyed playing video games, especially Fortnite.
Many friends and family took to social media to post their condolences to the family and their memories of Jaxson. From reading the comments on social media, it's easy to see how much of an impact he had on the community. Over the past week, the Mendoza family has been bathed in love and memories from hundreds of people remembering their son.
Jaxson's father is a Lubbock Fire Rescue Equipment Operator, and the Lubbock Professional Firefighter's Association has created a GoFundMe for the family. All funds donated via the website will be given to the Mendoza family to use in their time of grief to use as they deem necessary.
