Never let it be said that I'm not willing to change my opinion on something.

What This Was

Again, I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong. This post was originally called, "The Rudest Thing Pickup Truck Drivers Do" but I did a little research, a little thinking, and then I realized I was wrong. So, yes, I've grown and if you follow me along, you may too.

What It Is

The topic of my original ire was pickup trucks backing up into parking spaces. It can be very frustrating waiting for someone to back into a parking space while you're trying to get by or get to your own parking space. It just has the air of someone wasting your time when in reality it is not. I always thought, "What, do you have to make some kind of getaway or something?"

Why They Do It

It can actually be easier for trucks to back into a parking space. When you think about the process of parking, the angles work better this way. It's also safer for the truck when exiting to be able to see all of the other cars coming through the parking lot.

Other Items

Rear-view cameras changed the game and made it even easier to trucks to back up even beyond the improved angles. As someone waiting on trucks to do this, keep in mind you're really just "trading time" waiting for a truck to park as opposed to waiting for a truck to back up out of a space.  I hope you'll take this information and pass it along so that others can be a bit less frustrated and a bit more understanding when they see a truck backing in.
