Colbert's General Store is finally open on the bottom floor of the Metro Tower, and I'm SO excited! I've been watching them prepare to open the store for over a year now and I can't wait to pop in and grab a few things. Not only will it be convenient for those living in Metro Tower, but it will also be handy for anyone who spends time downtown.

Take a peek inside in the video below, posted by owner Charles Colbert to Facebook last Sunday:

It's that spiffy?

Oh, and did you see the cat? His name is Profit and he's the store cat! Don't worry, he isn't actually locked up in that crate. There's a tunnel behind him that leads to a sweet hangout in the back. He also gets carried like a little prince up to Colbert's apartment each night to sleep and watch over the city like Batman!

Hours of operation might change in the future, but here's the current breakdown:

Sun - 1 pm till 6 pm

Mon thru Thurs - 6:30 am till 9:30 pm

Fri - 6:30 am till 10:30 pm

Sat - 10:30 am till 10:30 pm

Colbert's General Store is also an excellent place for local artists to display and sell their art. They have a little area designated for local artists, and they aren't even taking a percentage of the sale like most places do. If you've got some art you'd like to sell, be sure to stop in and give them a chat.

Next time you're strolling down Broadway, be sure to stop in, check it out, and show support for a brand-new local business. The staff has worked incredibly hard for a long time to make the store something we can all be proud of. I can't wait to check it out, guys! Congratulations on the new storefront, guys! I can tell it's going to be a hit!
