Oh man I'm excited about this one. Chloe Grace Moretz is a freakin' star and I'm counting on her to really bring this home. Let's also not forget that her psycho-religious nut mom will be played by the exceptional Julianne Moore. This could definitely be one remake that will be worth your time. More after the jump.

You have to understand that the original movie "Willard" was landmark. It was so landmark that it spawned a sequel (which didn't happen that often in those days). I personally don't think the Friday the 13th movies hold up that well. As bad as they look in retrospect, they aren't as bad as the remake. Scream was the first movie I ever watched twice, back-to-back. It took everything I loved about horror movies, stripped away the cheese and brought it up to date. One of the most 'shocking' things it did was take the biggest 'star' and kill her off first. Drew Barrymore was up for the challenge, and thus, an "Billy & Stu" hollowed her out like a pepper ready to be stuffed. More after the break.
There are plenty of people with cameras, but there are very few photographers. Don Carpenter dropped by Nightmare on 19th Street this weekend and shot a few portraits with our actors. He wasn’t carrying big lighting trusses and he didn’t have much time. He just did his best to make sure each actor had a little visual memento of their time with us using some amazing magic talent. Johnny Depp rocks it as Barnabus Collins in the movie version of "Dark Shadows". Despite being a little 'overshadowed' by "the Avengers", Dark Shadows did alright at the box office ($276 million is considered 'alright' these days) and is now ready for your home collection. More after the jump.

Cabin In The Woods was released this past Tuesday on d.v.d. and I was quick to scoop it up. I don't buy many d.v.d.s anymore, but I had to have this one not only for repeated viewings, but to support this kind of film making. I, in fact, like the movie even more now that I've thoroughly digested it. The movie serves as a bookend of modern horror that started with John Carpenters Halloween. As one of the actors told us on the RockShow, love it or hate it, you will think differently of horror movies that you've already seen and will see because of it. I heard about this movie over at Bloody Disgusting or Ain't It Cool, I just now caught up with it on cable. It's a Cuban zombie flick called "Juan Of The Dead". It's a great look at modern day Cuba tied together with a great, comedic zombie flick. There's only one problem (for some of you), it's subtitled. More after the jump.
