We're very pleased with the way the show calendar is filling up.

It can be a tough job managing expectations when it comes to shows. We actually love to hype them all up, because, once again, every show is somebody's favorite show. What's a small show to some can be a dream show for others. I think we'll probably keep it this way because I would much rather celebrate the joy of live music than cater to people who tend to be unhappy with everything.

With all that said, we're set to announce the 41st FMX Birthday Bash on Tuesday, May 17th on The RockShow.

We don't put our name on a show lightly. We want, whether a show is big or small, a certain festiveness to it. In the past, we've let some of these bigger shows just exist on their own and gone with smaller events just for the vibe.

This time around, we had a promoter and band come to us and ask us, "Is there some kind of station event we can tie in to?" I have to tell you that this is rare, but dang if they didn't just make our day.

Not only is the headliner a jaw-dropper, but the second band almost makes it a co-headliner situation. It's a situation where 1+1 equals 5. I'm going to tell you right now that this lineup is the thing dreams are made of. I'm not joking when I tell you that there are a few people who will actually cry because they will finally get to see bands that have meant so much to them.

So am I hyping this up? I don't even need to. It's a Lubbock show, but people from all over the region will be here. Radio stations from Amarillo, Abilene, Midland-Odessa and other places will be sending listeners to this show. If the show interests you at all, don't fool around when tickets go on sale.

Get excited. Even if for some reason you aren't into these bands, you will not be able to deny how huge this event is. Get ready for the 41st FMX Birthday Bash.

Note: we've "switched" events for the Birthday Bash. This is not the band(s) we initially had designated for the show.  Also note, that the announcement date has changed by one day to accommodate ticketing and presale issues.
