Get Your Sausage On at the St. Joseph Sausagefest
I love my sausage!
Yes, I'm a big fan of the tubular meat, and one of my favorites is on the way.
It's the St. Joseph Sausage Festival. At least, it was the St. Joseph Sausage Festival because the event has now been turned into the St. Joseph Sausage Festival and Oktoberfest.
Let's focus on the meat, though. I have always loved St. Joseph's sausage because it seems to be a bit more flavorful, slightly rougher cut, and generally has less of a processed taste than the sausages you get off the shelf.
The organization offers up three varieties: original German, green chili, and habanero. The sausage sale starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 16th, 2021, and runs straight into Oktoberfest activities that day. The sausage sale continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
I don't know the full story, but apparently, they're also doing German Braids, which are described as "sweet dough filled with cream cheese and fruit." Those sound super delicious to me.
Now keep in mind that you have a lot of sausage options. They generally offer presale orders, day of orders, and you can also just head out to the event and have a delicious sausage dinner on-site (with homemade bread and potato salad available). You can even enjoy beer and wine with your dinner if you'd care to. If you'd like to preorder, you can go ahead and do that here, with pickup in Slaton on the day of the event.
The actual festival will happen at 21st & Division in Slaton. Here's more at their event page.
