A Lubbock business closed back in September of 2023, with the hope that the closure would be temporary and that the owner would find a way to come back and continue to serve the Lubbock community.

And we ALL wanted that, because not only do we all love ice cream, but the business also provided jobs for folks with intellectual disabilities. It was Howdy's Ice Cream, which was located at 2628 W Loop 289 Acc Rd #300, inside the West End Center.

Includied in the sale are tables and chairs, ice cream freezers, waffle cone makers and other restaurant supplies. There is also a safe and cash box. And plenty of miscellanous items including signage for the store.

There are other locations Howdy's Homemade Ice Cream, but it would be a bit of a drive- locations include Dallas, Katy, Shreveport, Bossier City, Denver and Indianapolis. Two more locations are planned for the future, too, but not in Lubbock.

All Howdy's homemade locations employ individuals with disabilties. It's "amazing ice cream by amazing people." It's just too bad we couldn't keep it here in Lubbock.
