Lubbock Drivers Need To Stop Doing This Stupid Thing Immediately
I believe some Lubbock drivers grab their keys and hang up their brain when they leave the house.
Use Common Sense
So much of driving is "common sense". So what is, "common sense driving?". Well, for instance, you can let other drivers know where you're going by using your blinkers. You could proceed slowly through parking lots because someone may back up into you. You could move over a lane on the highway so you don't get side-swiped. All of those things are no doubt in a driver's handbook, but I think most people could figure them out.
The Incident
This past Saturday I was driving down 50th street and an emergency vehicle started coming down the street. At that moment, all the drivers, in all three lanes stopped their vehicles. This where they get an "A" for effort, but an "F" for execution. Let me say it again, "THEY STOPPED IN ALL THREE LANES" blocking all traffic. Yes, you should stop, but not until you've pulled over to the side to allow the First Responders emergency access. The goal is for the emergency vehicles to get through safely by making room for them.
Just Think
Driving is a big responsibility and knowing a few basic rules of the road can really help. You don't even have to be that great of a driver, but if you're considerate of others you'll do pretty good. You have to pull over to the right when you see flashing emergency lights of any kind. You just might help save a life by helping first responders arrive at their destination sooner.
