I find the lack of logic people have when talking about concerts to be stunning. Seriously, amazingly stunning. You don't really need to know about concerts to understand concerts; you need to understand supply and demand.

I noticed on our Facebook page yesterday when we announced the upcoming In This Moment/Hellyeah show that some people thought that concerts in Lubbock should be cheaper because people get paid less in Lubbock. Seriously? In reality, concerts in Lubbock SHOULD cost more because less people go to them.

Fortunately, we've been able to avoid that. The same goes for the cost of alcohol. More people attend concerts and buy beer in Albuquerque, but their beer prices skyrocket over ours (at least they did at the shows I went to). So while things mostly depend on supply and demand, you've had a few folks out there making sure Lubbock gets a break.

I think most of this started with people bitching about the cost of a Deftones tickets for the 35th FMX Birthday Bash. It was $35 plus service charge. ($35, get it? For the 35th FMX Birthday Bash? And also cheaper than most other Deftones dates).

Guess what? Chances are next year the ticket will be $36 plus service charges. The promoter basically finds a band or bands that fit the price range for the year of the Bash. It's just something we've tried to do for the last 10 years or so.

At the end of the day, the show sold out. That's the majority of fans voting "yes" with their dollars. The haters can just stay home.

The one question that completely makes me shake my head is: "Why are concerts in the Pavilion instead of outdoors?" Seriously, you can't figure this out on your own? OK, then watch the video.
