5 Things I Learned During My First Crazy Year With FMX
I'm celebrating one year as part of The RockShow with Chrissy and Wes on 94.5 FMX today, and as such, I thought it might be fun to tell you a little bit about what it was like for me to join Townsquare Media and the number one morning show in Lubbock, Texas.
I never had any plans to be in radio. In fact, the idea hadn't crossed my mind a single time until the day that Wes Nessman called me up and asked me if I might be interested in joining The RockShow.
Before I joined the show, I was working in Minnesota as the head chef of a foreign language immersion program, where my main focus was Danish cuisine. My nights and weekends were spent doing stand-up comedy and playing my piano in an old train station that I rented for practice space.
I went to college, thinking I would probably just settle into being an English teacher, but I always seemed to want to be somewhere I was not. I'd been back and forth between Lubbock and Minnesota over the years, never quite knowing where I fit in, always looking for something better. Something different. Somewhere to perform. Somewhere to belong.
I think I was probably always looking for this. I just didn't know it.

Thanks to Townsquare Media for taking a chance on me. You guys have given me one of the best years of my life, and I hope to hang around the station as long as you'll have me. It's been a blast, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
