The Creepy Case of the Houston Goat Dropper
Ever heard of the Houston Goat Dropper? Not many have. The story seemed to have flown below the radar, and as far as I know, they never found the guy. Let's take a deep dive into a strange occurrence in a quiet southwest Houston neighborhood in 2022.
The Houston Goat Dropper
Callie Markantanis spotted something at the intersection of Tanglewilde Street and Fairdale while she was out walking one evening. It was a box, right in the middle of the street. She decided to go over and take a look inside.
She first noticed the box contained newspaper, but on first inspection, she noticed fur.
"It was a goat and chicken in the box, and both of them were headless."
Security camera footage from nearby showed a white car driving slowly down the street before coming to a stop in the middle of the road. A passenger exited the vehicle, removed the box from the roof, and dropped it into the intersection before driving away.
Unfortunately, the footage wasn't clear enough to get a license plate number.
She wondered if maybe the headless animals had something to do with a religious ritual, and when she reported it to the police, she mentioned it was not the first time such a thing had happened in her neighborhood.
Markantanis claimed that approximately 2 years prior, two giant headless chickens were discovered in plastic bags on the street corner, followed by the same type of discovery every 2 or 3 months.
The Houston SPCA investigated the incident, but no follow-up reports were made about the headless animals in the news, at least none that I can find.
I'm very curious as to whether or not there is some kind of psycho out there, or if someone is doing a little voodoo magic at home...
Other Creepy Stuff
One of the most unsettling things about this story is the comment section below it. I took a peek at what people had to say back in 2022 when this story came out. Here are some of the most chilling comments:
"Not in the news, a month ago someone dumped a couple of goats and chickens in the same manner here in Bear Creek, the Sheriff came out and deemed it not an issue, and at some point county picked up the bodies."
"I put a spell on you."
"They drive slowly by with the box on the roof of the car. Then dump it on the street. We've also had headless chickens left visible in plastic bags by the elementary school. We especially do not want the children seeing this."
"A person involved in witchcraft probably placed them there. DO NOT touch those boxes."
If you live in the Houston area where this occurred, I'd like to hear from you. Please email me an update on whether or not this weird headless goat stuff is still going down in your neighborhood. You can reach me at Chrissy.Covington@townsquaremedia.com.
