This was a jaw-dropper to me.

The Setup

Screenwriter Jeff Wadlow was NOT happy with Deadpool's appearance in Xmen Origins: Wolverine. He had a vision to undo the dirty that was done to him and actually have him as a villain, but still as "the merc with a mouth", and still use Ryan Renolds to play the part.

The Location

The story Wadlow was pitching was simple, Deadpool is hired to track down the members of the X-Force. The subtle twist was, he'd be tracking the X-Force down in West Texas.  Yes, it was an X-Force movie with Deadpool, but I don't think there was any way, that Deadpool wouldn't have been the talk of the project . no matter how little screen time he got,

Where, Again?

So where is this "West Texas" that Wadlow speaks of? Is it Lubbock, Amarillo, or El Paso? Could it be that fictional "West Texas" that is usually represented by actual filming in New Mexico (That has happened many times)? It would have been cool to see Deadpool cruise past the Buddy Holly Statue, and the Cadillac Ranch, or zip around the Guadalupe Mountains.

What Happened & What's Next

You pretty much know what happened, though this script went so far as to get a thumbs up from Ryan Reynolds, it was decided to make the first Deadpool movie instead. This is the nature of things in Hollywood. As for Wadlow, he had "Imaginary" in theaters and is hoping his next project will be the story of Van Halen's jump from the streets to superstardom (I'm certainly hoping that one happens).
