Dwight Yoakam Books Lubbock, Texas Show

Some of you folks won't understand why this is on the FMX page. Some of you already know why.

Just like Johnny Cash or Hank III, some folks are so country that they rock.

I first saw Dwight Yoakam at the Palomino Club in North Hollywood around 1984 or 85. I had a friend from Brownfield who had ventured out that way and was doing live sound for Dwight (and may still be doing so), so I tagged along for a show.

When I saw him, Dwight and his band were the only people wearing cowboy hats. Everyone else in the club were punk rockers, and yes, they were there to see Dwight. Rockers know authentic and smell through BS. They know Dwight is the real deal and they respect that.
