Is ‘Damn’ Even a Curse Word Anymore?
Did you even notice Burger King had the word "damn" in a commercial?
Apparently back in August, Burger King had a commercial for its new Impossible Whopper in which the statement "Damn, it's good" was spoken. Since that time, the group One Million Moms has called the ad out.
First, let’s address the One Million Moms.
This group frequently has its knickers in a twist about one thing or another. Let’s keep in mind that they are connected with the Family Research Council, which has been classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for making "false claims about the LGBT community based on discredited research and junk science." In other words, this group is wacko to begin with.
But, let’s cut to the core. What about the word 'damn'? It doesn’t even sound like a curse word to me anymore. It now has all the impact that 'darn' had when I was a kid. Speaking of kids, I guess I would be a little shocked if I saw a 5-year-old kid and he said he was looking for his damn bike.
I guess it all depends on when (time of day) the ad aired and during what programming. Since the ad aired in August (and this group is just now having a fit), I guess it's hard to determine that. I personally would see no problem with this spot running during a football game or even during a show like The Big Bang Theory.
Let's just leave it at this: More people are writing, saying and using the word damn and talking about Burger King now that this group caused a stink about the commercial.
