Oh man, this is going to be a fun one. Hang on for the ride, because it's about to get bumpy.

This little controversy is actually based on a Disneyland ride based on the fairy tale. At issue is a picture or scene in the ride where the handsome prince kisses Sleeping Beauty while she sleeps. I think you know the story.

Now, in the rear-view mirror, this is a little troublesome, but not THAT troublesome. After an extensive review of the storyline on Wikipedia (of the 1959 film), Philip and Aurora had met and were "in love" before her pricking her finger and falling asleep. Let's then cut to the prince finding her asleep and kissing her, bringing her back to life.

So, they were acquainted, they were in love, they just hadn't kissed before this moment. This begs the question of "consent". Yeah, you can't ask someone who asleep/in a trance if it's okay to kiss them and they surely can't move towards you or give you any body language letting you know they're good for some hot lip action.

I want to give the prince a total pass on this, but what keeps agitating me is the fact that he's kissing someone who is asleep and possibly dead to begin with. This is to say, it may not be rapey, but it sure as hell is kind of weird. Then again, if you watch the clip, it doesn't seem that molester-y at all.

I'm going to rate this as a "no-need-to-cancel". If you're a concerned parent and your kid still watches cartoons from 1959 then tell them, "never kiss anyone unless you're absolutely 100% positive they love you and want you to (and/or were cursed by a witch)".
