Code Orange

Halloween and Haunted House people have a little thing called a "Code Orange". It is sending up a warning flag to all interested parties that Halloween stuff has arrived. I've watched jealously online as some home decorating and even home improvement stores have started previewing and even stocking some merchandise.  I haven't seen anything like that pop up in Lubbock yet, but the ultimate "Code Orange" landed yesterday.

The Sighting

Just after lunch yesterday employees were spotted hanging a "Coming Soon" sign for the Spirit Halloween Store located in South Plains Mall. To my Halloween friends, this is a cause to celebrate. It is never too soon to get into the Halloween spirit for a lot of people and some just never stop. To know that the decorations, costumes, and various trinkets are on the way can really lift your spirits. It's also safe to say that other "Coming Soon" signs will pop up shortly if they haven't already.

The Town

We often ignore it, but we do live in a town that expects people to behave in a certain way. Some of us are just not built like that. To us, Halloween represents a break from the pressure to conform (which we weren't going to do anyway). We like things different, spooky, black, and with a dose of mayhem. Halloween is our time and a Code Orange means our time is coming. We are incredibly excited about Halloween 2024 and we hope you are too!
