While inspired by current events, I don't think it's ever a bad time to talk about respect.

In Texas, we respect our elders and those around us. Yes, sometimes it's just outwardly respect, but still, a "sir" or "ma'am" goes a long way. I address EVERYONE this way. To me, you deserve respect until the moment you prove you don't. You get a free pass in the door, it's what you do with it that's up to you.

Let's not stop with the Texas way of doing things and make this an old school or southern way of doing things. How many times have you watched a mafia movie and they talk about "respect"? How many times have you heard a rapper talk about "respect"? Respect is important to everyone across the board.

When I hear or see disrespect I am reminded of my favorite song from Puscifer

You speak like someone who has never been
Knocked the f@#k on out-The Remedy/Puscifer

It's simple. Sometimes parents teach respect and sometimes it has to be knocked into people. It's my wish that people will always give and teach the former so that they never have to suffer the latter.
