Eight people were killed in a crowd surge at a concert in Houston, Texas, and now blame is flying everywhere.

I'm pretty stunned to see so many people try to insert claims of satanic imagery and "satanic harvesting" as the reasons for this tragedy. In reality, I'm not here to defend Satan or Satanism; I'm here to bring some reality into the situation.

What you really need is to remember this quote from the late comedian George Carlin (NSFW video at link):

“Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.”

Yes, it's horrible, but the people are to blame. You could say there wasn't enough crowd control or security, but at the end of the day, people behave stupidly when they become part of a mob.

It's important that you understand this and that you make looking out for your own safety a priority. I still check for exits every time I enter a club after the Great White fire. You need to avoid getting into a situation where you could get swept up or trapped, too. Yes, on occasion, it's going to take some fun out of concerts for you, but these things have happened before and they will happen again.

As the size of a crowd goes up, the chances of something bad happening go up. Don't blame the devil. If you blame this sort of tragedy on supernatural forces, you aren't recognizing that horrible things like this can happen to ordinary innocent people just out for a night of fun.
