The pandemic has been horrible and the scope of death is equal to the population of Lubbock, but you have to find a rainbow in every cloud.

I don't know how your friends rolled through this pandemic, but I'm pretty proud of the way mine behaved. This is where the two words I want you to remember come in because many of you were the same way. Remember to be CARING and CRAFTY.

Let's start with caring. I've seen more friends check on friends than at any other time in my life. That's just the stuff I see too, I'm sure there are tons of messages and phone calls going on behind the scenes with people checking up on each other.

The other big word is crafty. More people are baking, making art, and doing home projects than pre-pandemic. I've seen crafty ladies make masks when there were none and small businesses startup out of boredom and/or necessity.

I think we're all a little shell-shocked to find out our society can be so vulnerable, but at the same time proud that we can be so resilient.

We are still a ways away from the end of the pandemic, but we are certainly closer to the end than we are to the beginning. I hope we can take a few things we've learned from this "great pause" forward and do better. I hope we hold onto both the caring for each other and the craftiness that was displayed to somehow make some of this discomfort worthwhile.
