A bill has been filed.

Do you realize 38 states in the U.S. have legalized marijuana in some form? Texas sits in some weird marijuana prohibition zone, despite claims that we love "freedom" here.

Senator-elect Roland Gibson filed a bill that would allow you to grow 12 plants and possess up to 2.5 ounces. I don't want to be one of 'those guys,' but why even put these limits on it? Let's get those plants growing and allow our farmers to make some bank too. We all know that the average Joe is too lazy to plant a garden, so farmers could put out some grade-A ganja and take the Texas economy to new levels.

Governor Greg Abbott has not been behind the idea in the past, and has even ordered Texas prosecutors to enforce marijuana laws. Then you have Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who operates with a perpetual stick made of the church crowd up his rear, so the chances of something happening are slim. When you get down to it, the government in Texas is downright ridiculous.

What drives me crazy about this is, most people have tried marijuana, and whether they enjoyed it or not, they know it's essentially harmless. So, what kind of hypocritical nonsense are we exercising here where we say, 'we've tried it, but we'll arrest you if you do'? This prohibition is absolutely nutters.

We have to have change at the top people if we want change on issues like this. Heck, how about we just bring this up for a vote? Shouldn't Texans get a say on this deal?

This idea is past due on every single level.
