Big In Texas: Yes, There Is A Biggest Sneaker In The Lone Star State
Writing about all of the wonderful oversized things in Texas has been super fun.
The best part about writing about "Big In Texas" things is coming up with super random items. So far I've covered things as varied "The Biggest Sinkhole", "The Biggest Rock", and "The Biggest Bakery Treat". This time I decided to put Google to the test big time! After an extensive search that tested the search engine to the very limits, I have an answer to the question, "Where Is The Biggest Sneaker In Texas"?
You may or may not know that on the t.v. show "King Of The Hill" that Peggy Hill had to "go to Lubbock" to get her size 14 shoes. The answer to the biggest sneaker was not that easy. In fact, we have to visit a very remote Texas town to find it.
The biggest sneaker is in Quanah, Texas. If you drew a line between Amarillo and Dallas, you'd find the tiny town right in the middle. If you're very familiar with Texas, then you'd know it was actually between Childress and Witchita Falls very close to the Oklahoma border. Have a look:
Yes, the town is so small that it's obliterated by the "you are here" marker that Google uses. None of this matters, because we're putting the town back on the map for having a piece of folk art that certainly qualifies as the biggest sneaker in Texas. The sneaker is the size of a regular passenger car and is so big I was able to pull it up on Google Maps.
Now, wouldn't be a hoot if they dug that up in the future and those future historians that "Wow, people used to be big!".
